Owner of MOTchecker

CEO - MOTchecker

Hi, I’m Clinton Brewill, owner of MOTchecker and an automotive niche professional with over 15 years of experience. I’ve envisioned this project as a solution to some of the most common issues I’ve seen UK drivers struggle with — avoiding vehicle sale scams and unintentional legal violations.

The purpose of MOTchecker

Our team relies on its collective experience to achieve a simple goal. We want to ensure that driving your vehicle is always safe for you and the people around you. We also want to provide you with the right tools to achieve this with ease.

My personal target

I believe that staying up-to-date with your MOT is key to solving this issue, but it can be difficult if finding information requires significant time and resource investments. After all, there’s a lot to cover: vehicle tax regulations, roadworthiness certification, UK import/export vehicle rules, and UK emissions standards — the list goes on.

  • I’ve seen it way too many times: checking several sources is tedious, and paying for multiple separate services is awfully inconvenient. Many drivers suffer from it, and there weren’t many ways to deal with it until now.
  • I always wanted to address the issue, which is why I came up with MOTchecker. Our tool contains all the data you need to make informed MOT-related decisions. It also features notifications and reminders to keep you up-to-date and ensure you will never miss a check. It is reliable and trustworthy, just like a good vehicle should be.

Aside from its functionality, we put a lot of effort into making MOTchecker as easy to use and convenient as possible. You don’t have to take our word for it — try it out today and see it for yourself.

The Road to MOTchecker

About MOT check CEO

Clinton Brewill was born in London in 1981 and has lived here for his whole life. From 1992 to 1999 he studied at the City of London Academy Southwark, after which Clinton enrolled at the University of West London to get his law degree (1999-2002).

Since then, Clinton Brewill decided to follow his passion for the automotive industry, starting small at one of the local car service centres. After five years of work, Clinton felt that he had enough experience to start his own passion project. In early 2008 he opened a company focused on selling cars and helping register them in accordance with UK road regulations and British vehicle legislation.

This is when Clinton truly felt that he was where he was supposed to be — using his law expertise to enable drivers to register their vehicles correctly and quickly get other important documents without any unnecessary friction was the best way to give back to the community, and that motivated him to expand the business as years went by.

However, after a certain time, the issues within the automotive industry became more and more obvious. Too many drivers have dealt with the same types of problems, mostly related to their MOT and inability to correctly schedule their checks and get all the information they require.

Not only that, but one of the most common problems within the industry was car sale scamming, with irresponsible dealers providing incomplete or downright incorrect UK vehicle documentation to make their vehicles seem more appealing. As a result, drivers had to deal with multiple unpleasant surprises later on.

To address that, Clinton Brewill has come up with the idea of MOTchecker — a simple and intuitive tool that would gather all relevant MOT testing data and store it in one place, providing drivers with an accessible and universal source of truth. This would enable any potential buyer to quickly check the vehicle themselves to ensure fair trading standards and also help drivers stay fully informed about their vehicle’s status.

This project required significant analysis beforehand to identify the best third-party sources of info outside official ones to enable the tool to provide the most comprehensive reports available on the market.

The team also had to come up with the most convenient way to present that information, enabling users to quickly skim through it and find the exact thing they were going to check.

Finally, the tool had to be able to notify and remind drivers about deadlines to ensure they stay compliant with UK driving laws at all times.

In January 2023 the project went live and has been steadily growing in popularity since then. Today, thousands of users rely on MOTchecker to stay up-to-date with their car maintenance requirements and ensure responsible driving, while the team behind it works hard to implement new features and increase its functionality and accessibility.

“Consumer protection, transparency in service, and a safety-first approach are our core priorities at all times. We believe that MOTchecker attains to each of these standards, and we’re happy that our customers feel the same way. However, we will not stop at what we’ve achieved and will continue improving the service, adding new features, and finding new ways to make it an even better tool than it already is. That is our promise,” says Clinton Brewill, CEO of MOTchecker.
